Meeting Schedule

Kiwanis Club of Bloomington meets every Thursday in the Indiana Memorial Union Building on 7th Street on the Indiana University campus.  Check the Daily Activity Boards upon arrival as the room location changes weekly.  Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and buffet is served.  Kiwanis business is conducted preceding weekly programs of interesting and educational speakers followed by a Q & A session.  Meetings adjourn promptly at 1 p.m.  Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the IMU or directly across 7th Street from Ernie Pyle Hall.  Bring your parking stub in for validation. Free for members. Lunch and parking are $15 for guests.

Gladys DeVane Renowned attorney and author Stephana Colbert's recently published, critically acclaimed book Ordinary Extraordinary African-American Women: The Elders, shares the journeys of ten Black women who have amazing life stories of accomplishments, challenges, heartache, and success--as young women, as middle aged maturing women and now as older, seasoned sages--in their work-lives as teachers,  leaders, community activists and quiet trailblazers; and at home as wives and mother. The power and importance of education is a common theme in all of their lives. Our guest speaker is Bloomington's Gladys DeVane, IU Professor emeritus, actor and storyteller is featured as on of the book's ten elders. She'll present an overview of her life and relate how she became a part ot the book.
